A Parna is a quick casual turban that a Sikh ties to cover his kesh. Traditionally the parna is used to cover the head when a person is at home, visiting locally, exercising or or often worn by farmers when going to fields or wandering around in the villages of Punjab. Parna waddae bande bande ne patka not preferable. A Sikh prefers to cover his head instead of wandering around ‘naked’, even if a sikh has to go to go to some shop near his house, the parna is used to cover his head. A parna a small band of coloured or patterned cloth of 2-3 meters. The Parna is not appropriate for sports as it may come loose, but a patka with a knot tied properly in it but larh in parnas are gently placed and for general purposes it is OK. Mostly Hockey players and Cricket Players choose Patka rather than parna.
